Your role as an Automation Engineer
As an Automation Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing advanced automation systems for high-tech naval vessels. Your work ensures that these systems operate seamlessly, adhering to strict regulatory standards and technical requirements. You will be responsible for developing automation concepts for complex onboard processes, integrating a wide range of systems. Depending on the vessel’s configuration, this may include critical defensive and deterrence mechanisms.
Your designs will feature state-of-the-art automation functionality, enabling the crew to efficiently control and monitor all onboard systems. Throughout the entire project lifecycle—from initial concept through to final commissioning—you will work within a 3DExperience engineering environment, following the V-model. Your contributions will be thoroughly reviewed, tested, and validated during both the design and construction phases, leading to the successful deployment of a fully operational naval vessel.
Your Responsibilities
Develop functional descriptions and core engineering documents for automated ship systems.
Create and maintain specifications for automation components and installation procedures.
Design detailed test and validation plans to ensure compliance with Class regulations and customer requirements, covering virtual simulations and real-world testing (FAT, HAT, SAT).
Oversee vendors and subcontractors, ensuring timely contributions to the project.
Review and integrate subcontractor designs into the vessel’s overall system architecture.
Establish engineering standards and best practices for detailed system design and commissioning.
Support the proposal phase by developing conceptual automation system designs.
Provide technical expertise during commissioning and project execution.
Your Profile
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in designing and implementing complex automation systems (PLC/SCADA), preferably in maritime, offshore, or aerospace industries.
Strong background in managing multidisciplinary projects involving multiple suppliers and subcontractors.
Experience working in a model-based systems engineering (MBSE) environment, following the V-model approach.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Technical Automation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Excellent professional references, as security clearance is a mandatory part of the hiring process.
