Your role as a Proposal Lead Electrical & Automation (E&A)
At the Proposals Department, you will be responsible for the conceptual and contract design of electrical and automation systems for our state-of-the-art naval vessels. This includes power generation and distribution, propulsion, platform automation, cable installations, navigation systems, and more—ensuring full compliance with all relevant requirements and regulations.
In this multidisciplinary tender team, you will develop innovative and cost-effective E&A solutions, shaping a commercially attractive proposal. Your analytical skills and strong technical writing ability will allow you to substantiate your figures and designs in a compelling way, helping to secure successful tenders. Once a project is awarded, you will ensure a smooth transition of your work to the engineering department for further development and realization.
The E&A Engineering teams are located in Vlissingen and Schiedam, frequent travel between these offices is required. The official job title for this role is Proposal Engineer Electrical & Automation.
Your responsibilities
Acting as the primary point of contact for Electrical & Automation aspects within the tender project team.
Leading a small team of E&A Tender Engineers.
Developing general system architectures (Single Line Diagram, Automation Architecture), estimating weight, power, and costs, and defining electrical load balances and propulsion system configurations.
Conducting requirement analyses, drafting engineering specifications, and supporting quotation requests and subcontractor evaluations for preliminary equipment selection and budgeting.
Assessing designs against project requirements and preparing comprehensive reports.
Creating technical documents, contract specifications, and reports, effectively communicating complex concepts and data to customers and subcontractors.
Participating in technical and commercial discussions with customers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
Supporting cost evaluations from subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
Your profile
3+ years of relevant experience in electrical design concepts and practices, ideally in complex maritime (tender) projects.
Experience leading a small project team of engineers.
Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to present detailed technical specifications, figures, and calculations in a clear and compelling manner.
A commercial mindset, able to balance technical feasibility with financial viability to create competitive proposals.
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
Fluency in English, both written and verbal; proficiency in Dutch is preferred, and a willingness to learn Dutch is required.
Willingness to occasionally travel abroad.
Availability for frequent travel to both Vlissingen and Schiedam office locations.
Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
